Riikka Anttonen's Vertere at Sinne Helsinki Reimagines the Spinning Top
The solo exhibition Vertere by Riikka Anttonen is on display at Sinne in Helsinki from September 4 to October 18, 2026, under the curation of Markus Åström. This exhibit showcases five sculptures, all positioned in a state of leaning or mid-fall, without any on pedestals. Anttonen reinterprets a spinning top as a human-sized exploration of balance. Featured pieces include Fluunt, Vertitur, Migrare, Formatur, and Novantur, drawing inspiration from Ovid's Metamorphoses and the marble culture of ancient Rome. Born in 1982, Anttonen is a sculptor based in Helsinki, holding MFAs from the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki (2023) and Aalto University (2012). She was awarded a Paulo Foundation artist's grant in 2025. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Sunday, from 12 to 17.
