Rick Owens' Five Easy Pieces at Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Curated by Michèle Lamy

exhibition · 2026-10-17

Michèle Lamy, Rick Owens' partner and longtime collaborator, curated Five Easy Pieces at Carpenters Workshop Gallery in Paris, presenting five new editions of Owens' furniture in rusted steel and marsh wood that spent millennia submerged. The show runs from 20 October 2026 to 15 March 2027 at 54 rue de la Verrerie, 75004, near Hôtel de Ville. The title borrows from Bob Rafelson's 1970 film, an ironic gesture given the pieces are anything but simple. The monumental K Plug, previously produced in alabaster and bronze, is now rendered in rusted steel, as is the Double Bubble sofa, which faces a graphite-colored crocodile. The Tomb Chair and Stag Chair shift into marsh wood. Upstairs, the Antler bed in recycled elm is surrounded by works from the couple's collection. The gallery frames the rust as a metaphor for creative resistance and the wood as the action of time. In the same space, Master Pieces gathers sixteen ceramics by eleven Japanese masters of the 20th and 21st centuries, rarely shown outside Japan, from 20 October to 19 December 2026. Hours are Monday 10am-6pm, Tuesday to Friday 10am-7pm, Saturday 11am-7pm; admission is free.
