Richter Architectes et Associés Designs Cultural Center in Gisors, France
Set to complete in 2026, the Gisor cultural center by richter architectes et associés occupies a 2,676 m² building on a site that had long been a car park at the edge of the town center. The project, curated by Nina Vuga, comprises a 1,444 m² cinema, a 1,232 m² media library, and 8,000 m² of public spaces, with a total cost of 10 million euros excluding VAT. The client is CdC du Vexin Normand. The architects chose not to erase the site's constraints—a polluted mass of pre-war industrial infrastructure, underground water, and flooding risk—but to work with them, allowing a new urban geography to emerge. Photographs are by Luc Boegly. The design team includes structural engineer C&E Ingénierie, electrical engineer BET G.Jost, acoustics consultant Gamba, fluids and HEQ consultant SOLARES BAUEN, fire safety engineer BET G.Jost, and landscaper BRUNO KUBLER. The project falls under the categories of public space, landscape architecture, and cultural center.
