Richard Malone's Fabric Sculpture Marks Ireland's EU Presidency in Brussels

Irish artist Richard Malone has created a large-scale fabric sculpture titled 'Cuimhne agus Séadchomhartha' (Memory and Monument) for the EU Council buildings in Brussels. The work is installed at the Justus Lipsius and Europa buildings, where it will remain on view until December. The sculpture celebrates Ireland's presidency of the Council of the European Union, which runs from January to June 2026. Malone, known for his fashion and textile works, used hand-dyed Irish linen and wool to create a piece that references Irish history and European unity. The artwork was commissioned by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland.
