Rerucha Studio's Park House in Seattle: A 'Small Village of Connected Spaces'
Rerucha Studio has completed Park House, a 2,500-square-foot residence in Seattle, Washington, designed as a cluster of three detached cedar-clad structures around a central courtyard. The project, named after nearby Woodland Park, aims to translate the qualities of a park—green space, freedom, connection—into a compact urban home. Founder Jill Rerucha described the result as 'a small village of connected spaces.' The house features a steel trellis connecting the volumes, an orange steel gate inspired by Craftsman homes, and a restrained material palette of concrete, white oak, and cedar. The sculptural staircase was designed by project architect Sarah McCain. The design blurs indoor-outdoor boundaries, with the courtyard as the centerpiece. Other recent Seattle projects include a 1920s art studio conversion by SHED Architecture & Design, a shingle-clad cottage renovation by Best Practice Architecture, and a 1930s house extension by Heliotrope.
