Renzo Piano's €5M Restoration Plan for Genoa's Palazzo Ducale Gets Government Backing

The restoration of Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, crafted by architect Renzo Piano, will receive backing from the Italian Ministry of Culture, under the leadership of Minister Alessandro Giuli. This collaboration was formalized during a meeting in Rome with Marco Bucci, the President of Liguria Region, and Silvia Salis, the Mayor of Genoa. The Ministry will allocate funds from the Soprintendenza, supplementing contributions from the Municipality of Genoa, Liguria Region, Palazzo Ducale, and Compagnia di San Paolo, amounting to over five million euros. Major projects include reopening the Loggiato and improving exhibition areas. Mayor Salis emphasized the importance of this agreement for Genoa, highlighting it as a heartfelt tribute from Piano on his 90th birthday, aimed at enhancing the palace’s cultural significance and global standing.
