Rembrandt's Etchings on View at Amsterdam's Rembrandt House Museum

The Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam presents ten etchings by Rembrandt van Rijn this summer, spanning works from 1634 to 1653. Curated by Nathalie Maciesza and Epco Runia, the selection includes 'Beggars Receiving Alms at the Door of a House' (1648), 'The Baptism of the Eunuch' (1641), 'Student at a Table by Candlelight' (c. 1642), 'Woman Reading' (1634), 'Self-Portrait with Saskia' (1636), 'The Shepherd and his Family' (1644), 'Man in a Divided Fur Cap' (1640), 'Two Beggars, a Man and a Woman' (c. 1634), 'Old Woman Sleeping' (c. 1636), and 'The Three Crosses' (1653). The prints explore themes of childhood, aging, poverty, and family. 'The Three Crosses' is highlighted as a masterpiece of drypoint technique. The exhibition offers insight into Rembrandt's personal life, including his wife Saskia and son Titus.
