Regent's University London students reimagine West Reservoir Centre as wellness retreats

Regent's University London's BA (Hons) Interior Design students have proposed adaptive reuse projects for the West Reservoir Centre in Hackney, transforming the former water-filtration facility into wellness retreats, art hubs, and food cultivation centres. The projects, part of the school's exploration of urban habitats at Woodberry Wetlands, include a restorative retreat for students by Manaal Mirza, a wellness hotel by Alejandro Olloquiegui Videgain, and a seasonal Soho House-style hub by Clara Xirau Guardans. Other proposals feature a cultural retreat by Carmen Flaaten Lindbaek, an art hub by Lilia Lankarani, a Scandinavian-inspired wellness journey by Norah Carlman, a speculative 2040 design by Shylendra Chawira, a food cultivation hub by Sofia Samm, an eco wellness hotel by Srija Khatiwada, and a sustainability-focused collective by Tova Juhlin. The course, led by tutors including Antonis Anagnostidis and Joshua Waterstone, emphasizes interior design as a tool for wellbeing, community, and ecological resilience.
