Reed Hastings' Powder Mountain Unveils Arclodge Clubhouse and Art Program

Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings has invested $100 million into Powder Mountain, transforming the Utah ski resort into a members-only enclave with a major public art program. The centerpiece is Arclodge, a 73,000-square-foot clubhouse designed by Hart Howerton with interiors by Champalimaud Design, set to open for the 2028 ski season. The private side, Powder Haven, includes 650 residential lots with access to exclusive lifts and amenities. The Powder Art Foundation, led by chief creative officer Alex Zhang, has installed 13 works across the mountain, including pieces by Davina Semo, Kayode Ojo, and EJ Hill, as well as reinstallations of Nancy Holt's 1986 'Starfire' and Nobuo Sekine's 'Phase of Nothingness-Stone Stack' (1970, 2025). The foundation will announce new commissions this fall. Powder Mountain, founded in the 1970s, was historically an anti-resort for hardcore skiers but struggled financially until Hastings' acquisition in 2023. The resort now operates a public-private model where residential revenue funds public infrastructure.
