REDGE Contemporary Art Center by Atelier Meadow in Chengdu

Atelier Meadow, led by Edoardo Nieri, has transformed the first three floors of a decade-old office tower into the REDGE Contemporary Art Center in Chengdu, China. The adaptive reuse project covers 4,000 m² and repurposes existing built fabric to create a public cultural institution. Commissioned as part of the Chengdu Tianfu International Biotown development, the center introduces exhibitions, education, public events, and creative production to a rapidly innovating district. It aims to become a new civic destination between research facilities and Yong'an Lake Natural Park. The design team includes Huiyi Wu, Giulia Roncucci, Flora Ng, Val Flanon, and Tingyue Wang. Photography is by DONG Image, with Living Divani as a supplier. Engineering was handled by Sichuan Yun Jin Cheng Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., with consulting by SADI (Sichuan Provincial Architectural Design and Research Institute) and contracting by Chengdu BioCity Construction Co., Ltd. The project is slated for completion in 2026.
