Raymond Hains Retrospective Opens in Paris Metro Gallery
A special exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of Raymond Hains (1926–2005) is set to occur at Galerie Valois, which is situated in the historic Palais-Royal–Musée du Louvre metro station in Paris. Scheduled from June 9 to August 27, 2026, the exhibition is called 'Raymond Hains: l’œuvre en chantier, Du Grand Louvre aux 3 Cartier.' This event is organized in collaboration with the Fondation Cartier and will feature displays in both the underground gallery and the Place du Palais-Royal. The underground section highlights Hains’ collage work and his fascination with the '3 Cartiers': Jacques Cartier, Louis Cartier, and Henri Cartier-Bresson. Above ground, visitors will find a major installation of Hains’ photos capturing the Grand Louvre's construction during the 1980s and 1990s. The early 20th-century Galerie Valois retains its original decor and alcoves and is open for free during station hours.
