Raw Messina Gallery Opens in Rome's Monteverde District in Former Pugacioff Bookstore

Raw Messina, established by Pax Paloscia and Gabriele Stabile, has launched a permanent location at Via Busiri Vici 32 in Rome's Monteverde district, taking over the historic Pugacioff bookstore. This gallery began in New York at 240 Grand Street, moved to Milan at Via Messina 17, and then shifted to Rome during the pandemic. The Pugacioff bookstore, a cultural landmark since 1976, holds personal memories for Stabile, who once encountered Senate President Giovanni Spadolini while skipping school there. The gallery specializes in photography and figurative painting, debuting with an exhibition by NABA graduate Elena Cucci. A pop-up exhibition by Peter Meehan, titled "A Show of Hands," is scheduled for June 11, 2026, at 6 PM. Raw Messina also participates in four art fairs each year, highlighting personal narratives.
