Raising Cane's Inglewood flagship by Donaldson + Partners reimagines fast-food design with Googie-inspired digital halo

Inglewood, California, is now home to Raising Cane's West Coast Flagship, designed by Donaldson + Partners, located between SoFi Stadium and Intuit Dome in the Hollywood Park entertainment district. This 50x50-foot fast-food establishment embraces Googie architecture, a vibrant midcentury style from Southern California, while incorporating modern technology. An impressive 108-foot-wide illuminated halo featuring nearly 200 LED panels extends from the building, functioning as both a landmark and a social space. Below, Spanish steps provide a vantage point for patrons to enjoy live sports on large screens. The restaurant's perforated metal exterior, designed by Walter P Moore, connects it visually to nearby stadiums. Inside, a cylindrical LED drum surrounds diners with dynamic visuals, complemented by a 3D screen, DJ booth, disco balls, exposed brick, and a chrome sculpture of Raising Cane, crafted by local artist Sofie Berarducci. Founding partner Robin Donaldson likened the halo to a sculptural identifier, similar to the iconic golden arches of McDonald's. This project represents a unique venture in fast-food architecture, moving away from conventional designs to create a notable destination.
