Rafael Lozano-Hemmer Debuts Black Hole at Art Basel 2026 Zero 10

During Art Basel 2026, the Zero 10 sector will showcase a solo exhibition featuring Mexican-Canadian media artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, presented by bitforms gallery and Max Estrella. The exhibition will unveil Black Hole (2026), a parabolic reflector equipped with a panoptic camera that captures facial features in real time. Other works include Spectral Subjects (2024), which creates animations from the heat signatures of participants; Broken Mirror (2025), a poetic reconstruction that shifts based on viewer perspective; and Pulse Agglomerate (2024), a memorial sculpture responsive to heartbeats. Lozano-Hemmer, born in Mexico City in 1967, has a degree in physical chemistry and has represented Mexico at the Venice Biennale. Sabrina Di Lisa from bitforms gallery will lead a video tour of the exhibition, which opens on June 21, 2026, in Basel, Switzerland.
