Radical Subjectivity: Katalin Ladik and Tomaso Binga at MMSU Rijeka

The 'Radical Subjectivity' exhibition, a dual solo showcase, is set to debut at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka, featuring the works of Hungarian artist Katalin Ladik and Italian artist Tomaso Binga. Curated by Branka Benčić, the exhibition opens on March 7, 2026, highlighting pieces from the 1960s and 1970s that delve into themes of language, body, and voice. Both Ladik, hailing from Novi Sad, and Binga, originally Bianca Pucciarelli Menna, are pivotal figures in European visual poetry and performance art. Their works interrogate concepts of identity, gender, and subjectivity through various mediums. Notably, many pieces are being showcased in Croatia for the first time, including newly uncovered photographic documentation of Ladik's 1970 performance in Rijeka by local photographer Ranko Smokvina.
