Rachel Kneebone's Porcelain Sculptures Intervene at London's Wallace Collection
Nine porcelain sculptures by British artist Rachel Kneebone, created between 2017 and 2026, are installed throughout Hertford House as an intervention titled Metamorphoses at the Wallace Collection in London. Born in 1973, Kneebone is the latest contemporary artist invited to show work at the museum, following Damien Hirst, Flora Yukhnovich and Grayson Perry. Her delicate, intimate creations, suspended on skinny wires, emerge from tangled clumps of ribbons and roses and feature bone-white bubbles that appear ready to pop. The review describes the work as edgy, nerve-wracking and marvellous, with a sense of peril central to its effect. The display places the sculptures among Hertford House's rococo masterpieces, where they feel at home.
