Rachel Howard's Harvest at 447 Space Confronts Drone Warfare and Rubens

exhibition · 2026-09-25

Rachel Howard's latest solo exhibition, titled Harvest, will debut on September 25 at 447 Space in Chelsea, marking her first showcase since 2019. This collection presents new artworks that contrast unmanned Reaper drones with muddy infant figures, drawing inspiration from Rubens's Massacre of the Innocents. Howard delves into the ethical implications of drone surveillance and the persistent reality of state violence. The exhibition highlights how altitude diminishes individuality while lower perspectives reveal vulnerability. A Goldsmiths, University of London alumna, Howard has shown her work extensively, including at MASS MoCA and Museo MADRE. Her pieces are part of collections at the Imperial War Museum and Ackland Art Museum. Harvest will be on view until November 6 at 447 Space, West 17th St., NYC.
