Qastic Stacks Two Arched ADUs Into 1,500-Square-Foot Los Angeles Building

architecture-design · 2026-09-10

Qastic, a design-build firm, has finalized Casa Plus in Los Angeles, where two accessory dwelling units (ADUs) are ingeniously stacked within a double-level arched metal framework on a 1,500 square-foot lot. The architecture showcases a seamless vaulted design that optimizes water drainage and spatial use. Two arched metal structures are positioned perpendicularly, supported by a robust steel framework and enveloped in white-painted galvanized Purlin Bearing Rib panels, resulting in a reflective cool roof. Each unit features its own entrance and includes a cooking, dining, and lounging space, a bedroom, and a bathroom. The units can function separately or be combined into a single-family home, enhancing flexibility in an urban setting. Photography by Mohamad Momenabadi, Sayeh Moomsaz, and Mahdi A Bakhshian.
