Pukará House: A 24m² Rural Retreat at Cayambe Volcano Foothills

El Sindicato Arquitectura has completed Pukará House, a 24-square-meter rural dwelling in Ecuador. Located at the foothills of the Cayambe volcano, the project sits on a nearly four-hectare family plot historically used for grazing, vegetable cultivation, and artisanal cheese production. The site also includes a country house, barn, cheese factory, warehouses, a water reservoir, and ruins of an old feed storage structure. The lead architects are Nicolás Viteri, Xavier Duque, and María Reinoso, with Erika Galarraga leading the team and Diana Padilla and Pablo Hidalgo on design. The general contractor was Micra, Pensar en madera. The house was completed in 2024, with photographs by Eduardo Espinosa Garate. The project was curated by Valentina Díaz.
