Pug Seal Anatole France Redesign Honors Migrant Narratives

Passus Atelier, founded by Chloë Morichau Beauchant and Aldo Sázen, has led a redesign of Pug Seal Anatole France, a hotel in Mexico City that originally opened in a 1940s mansion designed by Belgian-Mexican architect Dirk Jan Kinet. The intervention strengthens the hotel's decade-long narrative celebrating migrant families who helped build Mexico. The property is part of the Pug Seal collection, which also includes Pug Seal Allan Poe and Pug Seal Oaxaca City. All three hotels hold a Michelin Key, making Pug Seal the only Mexican hotel collection with 100% of its properties recognized by the Michelin Guide 2025. The redesign coincides with the brand's tenth anniversary. Iconic elements like the Escalera de la Humildad remain, symbolizing migrant perseverance. New artistic additions deepen the storytelling. The project was featured in the 89th edition of Glocal Design Magazine, titled 'Visionarias del espacio,' which profiles 15 female architects and interior designers in Mexico, with covers by Prince Láuder and Jimena Estíbaliz.
