Pucci Artistic Director Camille Miceli Curates Yves Laloy at Art Basel

At Art Basel in Basel, Camille Miceli, artistic director of Pucci, has curated a solo presentation of around a dozen paintings by Yves Laloy (1920–1999) at the stand of Paris's Galerie 1900-2000. The booth is conceived as an immersive environment driven by instinct rather than conventional exhibition codes. Laloy, a postwar French painter born in Rennes, trained as an architect before turning to painting around 1950. He was discovered and championed by André Breton in 1958, who mounted an exhibition at Galerie La Cour d'Ingres and later chose Laloy's canvas for the cover of the 1965 revised edition of Le Surréalisme et la peinture. Laloy never formally joined the Surrealist movement, working across geometric constructions and biomorphic worlds influenced by Navajo sand painting. Miceli discovered Laloy through gallerists David Fleiss and Emmanuel Perrotin, who staged Laloy's first monographic gallery exhibition in 2022. The presentation draws from Galerie 1900-2000's holdings. Miceli frames her participation as an experiential reintroduction, extending her scenography work at Art Basel Miami Beach through Pucci.
