Product Designer Tomas Kral Creates Limited-Edition Ruler with Curved Measurement Lines

Product designer Tomas Kral has introduced a novel interpretation of the standard ruler through his project called Way. This redesigned measuring instrument maintains conventional functionality with clear markings along its edge but incorporates distinctive curved lines at each centimeter interval. Instead of displaying numbers directly at the ruler's edge, the numerical values appear at the termination points of these winding paths. Crafted from anodized aluminum, the design encourages users to visually trace the meandering lines to locate measurements, introducing an element of engagement to the typically straightforward process. Kral drew inspiration from concepts of travel and exploration, aiming to transform measurement into a more interactive experience. The designer has produced a restricted series of 50 units available for purchase through his official website. This creative approach suggests that achieving outcomes does not necessarily follow direct routes.
