Prince William to Represent King Charles at Norwegian King's Funeral

On September 9, Prince William of Britain will represent his father, King Charles, at the funeral of Norway's deceased King Harald, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace on Saturday. Traditionally, British royals do not attend the funerals of foreign heads of state but instead send a representative. Last year, the heir to the throne also stood in for King Charles at Pope Francis's funeral. King Charles, 77, who is currently receiving treatment for an undisclosed cancer, expressed his sorrow over the passing of his 'dear cousin' King Harald, with whom he shares a lineage as second cousins once removed, both being descendants of King Edward VII of Britain. Princess Anne will also be present in her role as the godmother of the new king, Haakon VIII.
