Praemium Imperiale 2026: Jenny Holzer, Cate Blanchett, Andy Goldsworthy Among Winners

The winners of the 37th Praemium Imperiale were revealed on September 8 at 11am at the Musée Picasso-Paris. This prestigious award recognizes five distinguished artists: Jenny Holzer (b. 1950, Ohio) in painting for her text-oriented creations; Andy Goldsworthy (b. 1956) in sculpture for his innovative works that challenge traditional boundaries; Cate Blanchett (b. 1969) in performing arts for her contributions to film and theater; Daniel Libeskind (b. 1946) in architecture for his emotionally resonant structures; and Herbert Blomstedt (b. 1927) in music for his extensive career. Each recipient will be awarded 15 million yen, along with a diploma and a medal, during a ceremony in Tokyo on October 28. The Young Artists Prize was awarded to La Source Garouste, established by Gérard and Élizabeth Garouste.
