Prada's Spring/Summer 2027 Show Devoted to the Skirt, as Galleria Opens in Milan

exhibition · 2026-04-26

In Milan, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons unveiled the Prada Spring/Summer 2027 collection, which prominently featured skirts coinciding with the launch of the Galleria, the brand's inaugural permanent exhibition space situated above the flagship store. The collection showcased modernist silhouettes, primarily knee-length, with variations that included rigid cotton gabardine, intricate crystal embroidery, and structured nylon crinoline sheaths. Julia Nobis embodied a disheveled hausfrau aesthetic. Simons drew inspiration from a video in which Prada compared skirts to T-shirts, merging industrial Velcro with delicate crystal details. Prada referred to skirts as "objects" and connected her fascination to the sexual liberation of the 1960s, emphasizing the importance of creative freedom, stating, "Here, I have to be free."
