Poush Artists Transform Europe's Largest Cemetery into Exhibition Space

The exhibition 'Demeure' opens at the Cimetière parisien de Pantin, the largest cemetery in Europe and the seventh largest in the world, spanning 107 hectares. Curated by Patrice Chazottes and Inès Massonie, it features works by about twenty artists including Andy Warhol, Gaëlle Choisne, Bianca Bondi, and Laurent Grasso. Many are residents of Poush, a studio complex in Aubervilliers. The works are installed along a one-kilometer path, with artists responding to the site: Laurent Grasso's neon lights greet visitors, Thibault Lucas uses materials found in the cemetery, Julien Salaud focuses on local wildlife, Charbel-joseph H. Boutros engraves the name of the first visitor on granite, Max Fouchy creates eyes in stone, Tilhenn Klapper hangs bat-like sculptures, Gaëlle Choisne builds an altar of resistance, Garance Butler-Oliva draws from Jewish ritual, and Valentine Prissette uses a funeral crown motif. The exhibition runs from May 30 to November 15, 2026, at 164 Avenue Jean Jaurès, Pantin.
