Potato Head Opens Good Times General Store by OMA in Bali

architecture-design · 2026-10-20

The Good Times General Store, a new retail initiative by Potato Head, has officially launched, marking its first dedicated shopping venue. Designed in collaboration with the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), this store is located in Bali and reflects their mutual commitment to circularity and social responsibility. David Gianotten of OMA refers to it as 'post-consumption retail,' highlighting the importance of participation over ownership. Positioned between the Desa Potato Head Bali hotel and the beach club, the building showcases a 'contemporary-traditional' aesthetic. It features five linear bays that highlight independent artisans, Potato Head's clothing line, and the 'Wasted' collection with Max Lamb. Additionally, two bays are dedicated to workshops on natural dyeing and recycled plastics. Looking ahead, Ronald Akili announced plans for a bamboo-domed arts venue and a design center, both set to open in 2027.
