Portuguese Designer Sofia Águas Gains Recognition for Sculptural Ceramics

Sofia Águas, a Portuguese designer and ceramic artist based in Lisbon, is receiving international attention for her work that merges functional objects with sculptural expression. Her practice explores form, texture, and material through hand-built techniques, creating pieces that balance utility with artistic presence. Águas trained at AR.CO in Lisbon and participated in workshops at Ulster University and a residency at Marphil Studio in Madrid.
