architecture-design · 2026-09-22

On Friday, October 2, 2026, the Portland Museum of Art (PMA) will unveil PMA | AMP, a temporary outdoor pavilion located in the Arts District of Portland. Spanning 4,200 square feet, this structure, crafted by LEVER Architecture, will incorporate timber and materials sourced from Maine. Once the museum's permanent expansion commences, the pavilion will be dismantled and repurposed. It will feature a mural by Jenna Pirello and will serve as a venue for installations, performances, workshops, and PMA Films screenings. The PMA is partnering with local groups such as Creative Portland and the City of Portland to organize community events and artist commissions. AMP will be open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., from May to November. The expansion project for PMA started in 2022.
