POoR Collective's 'Power' Rug: London Housing Estates as Design Inspiration

The inaugural rug 'Power' has been introduced by POoR Collective, a London-based group, for the British brand Floor Story. Crafted from New Zealand wool, this flatwoven rug comes in two color options and draws inspiration from iconic London tower blocks like the Barbican and Trellick Tower. It creatively abstracts architectural features, suggesting elements such as walkways and columns. Co-founder Shawn Adams aims to express three-dimensional ideas through a two-dimensional format while showcasing everyday architecture. This piece is part of a collection by five London creative teams, commissioned by Gill Thorpe of Floor Story. The rugs, produced in Mirzapur, India, will be displayed at Floor Story's Shoreditch showroom during the London Design Festival from 15–18 September 2026. POoR Collective is dedicated to challenging design hierarchies and elevating underrepresented voices.
