Pontoatelier Completes Casa Loungueira, a 90 m² Residence in the Azores

architecture-design · 2026-10-15

Pontoatelier has completed Casa Loungueira, a 90 m² residential project on São Miguel in the Azores, Portugal, scheduled for 2026. The design replaces a fragile, poorly built structure with a compact house for the client's son and his family. The architects began by maximizing habitable area while respecting mandatory setbacks and preserving an existing guava tree. From that boundary, the house is organized as a clear, continuous structure. The project was curated by Susanna Moreira for ArchDaily, with photography by Tiago Casanova. Coordination was handled by Ana Pedro Ferreira and Pedro Maria Ribeiro, and Miguel Carvalho was part of the project team. The work falls under residential architecture and houses, and was submitted by the design team.
