Polysmiths Renovates Peckham Terrace with Lime Plaster, Pine and Cork at Pine House

architecture-design · 2026-09-25

Founded in 2017 by Charles Wu, Polysmiths has successfully renovated a Victorian residence in Peckham, London, named Pine House. This project enhances the typical constraints of Victorian terraces by eliminating a mid-floor over the rear outrigger, resulting in a double-height space that floods the kitchen and living area with natural light. A single axis links a reception room featuring a bay window to a garden room with extensive glazing. The materials used include lime-washed brick, Radiata Pine boards, and dark cork boards. The upper levels house four bedrooms and two bathrooms, while the street-facing exterior remains mostly intact, complemented by a slatted timber fence. Photography credits go to Lorenzo Zandri. Polysmiths has also worked on a home in Wanstead and a basement flat in Tufnell Park.
