Politecnico di Milano students turn Chinese medicine waste into lighting
At Politecnico di Milano, the Design Department is hosting an exhibition that features ten student projects focused on turning waste into sustainable design products. One of the highlights is 'Farewell Flower Goddess,' a unique hexagonal lantern made from organic materials linked to traditional Chinese medicine, created by Zhaoyu Chen and his teammates. Other impressive works include 'Scravita,' a lamp crafted from salmon waste, 'Mycelli,' a sparrow habitat built with mycelium, and 'Reclaym,' which reuses brick debris. Led by Valentina Rognoli and her team, these initiatives emphasize eco-friendliness and biodesign, with backing from the Madetrans research group and B.Lab, in partnership with Dezeen.
