Police Unearth Drug Stashes at Creamfields Site Ahead of Festival

In Daresbury, Cheshire, Cheshire Police have unearthed substantial amounts of illicit drugs concealed underground at the Creamfields Festival venue, just days ahead of its commencement. A pre-event inspection revealed around 204 canisters of nitrous oxide, often referred to as laughing gas, alongside significant quantities of ecstasy, MDMA, and ketamine tablets. Superintendent Andy Blizard emphasized that the festival, starting Thursday and anticipated to draw over 80,000 attendees, enforces a strict zero-tolerance drug policy. He mentioned that individuals regularly attempt to hide drugs at the site months prior and cautioned that further searches would continue until the festival begins, likely uncovering more items. Police are urging anyone who buried belongings at the location to reach out for their retrieval, while investigations are underway to trace the owners of the drugs. Throughout the festival, officers will collaborate with event security to deter crime and maintain order, underscoring the persistent challenges of drug enforcement at major music festivals across the UK.
