Plau Design and FutureBrand São Paulo Craft Nescau Display Type System with 36 Styles

architecture-design · 2026-10-15

Plau Design teamed up with FutureBrand São Paulo to develop Nescau Display, a unique type design system for Nestlé’s Nescau brand. Led by Carlos Mignot, Rodrigo Saiani, and Lu Leitenperger, the aim was to refresh the brand's visual identity by redesigning its logotype and creating a custom sans serif type family from scratch. They infused the essence of the brand's iconic yellow lightning bolt into the letters by incorporating sharp diagonal cuts directly into the glyphs, seen in the uppercase G, the tail of the Q, and others. The type family includes six weights from Light to Black and various widths, totaling 36 styles. These are featured in several brand materials, like campaign posters and the packaging for the 210g chocolate cereal box. The complete project can be found on Behance.
