Plana House: Free Downloadable Timber Home Design by Kristijan Markoc

Kristijan Markoc from Plana Architecture, a Swiss firm, has launched Plana House, a downloadable design for a small timber home with two bedrooms. The house covers 42 square meters and features a simple pitched roof, making it adaptable for different sites and using readily available materials. His aim is to simplify homebuilding by providing detailed technical drawings online, allowing people to understand, tweak, and potentially build their own homes. Although the design meets UK and Irish building codes, construction should still be checked by a licensed architect or a qualified expert. The house's efficient timber frame is based on Markoc's modular expertise, and it can be fitted with local materials while minimizing site impact. The interior includes an open living, dining, and kitchen area on one side and two bedrooms with a bathroom on the other, enhanced by large windows and a pitched roof for a spacious feel. Markoc plans to create a prototype, with design visuals by Tom Stepins.
