Pipilotti Rist's 'Ever is Over All' Opens at Guggenheim Bilbao Through January 2027

exhibition · 2026-09-17

Pipilotti Rist's video installation 'Ever is Over All' is currently on display at the Guggenheim Bilbao until 17 January 2027, under the curation of Mikel Onandia. This work debuted at the 1997 Venice Biennale and features two synchronized projections: one shows a woman in a blue dress breaking car windows with a red flower, while the other presents close-ups of flowers accompanied by music from Anders Guggisberg. Born in Grabs, Switzerland in 1962, Rist delves into themes of beauty and vandalism, offering a feminist view on public spaces and resistance to consumerism. This installation marks a significant moment in 1990s video art, paving the way for Rist’s subsequent larger works like 'Open My Glade' and 'Homo sapiens sapiens'.
