Pinacoteca Opens Two New Exhibitions in September: Luana Vitra and Ismael Nery
On September 5, 2026, the Pinacoteca de São Paulo will unveil two exhibitions at Pina Luz. The first, 'Luana Vitra: Bandeira Branca,' presents a site-specific installation by Brazilian artist Luana Vitra, born in 1995 in Contagem, Minas Gerais. This work delves into the connections between rare earth elements, extractivism, and colonialism. Vitra, who participated in the 35th São Paulo Biennial in 2023 and received the Prêmio PIPA that same year, is a rising talent. The second exhibition, 'Ismael Nery: armadilha moderna,' features approximately 230 works by Ismael Nery (1900–1934), examining themes of identity and desire. Nery, who passed away from tuberculosis at age 33, studied in Paris and developed a philosophy of detachment. Both exhibitions will be on display until January 31, 2027.
