Pilar Zeta's sculptural portals create immersive dreamworlds in public spaces worldwide

Argentinian artist Pilar Zeta creates immersive sculptural installations that transform public spaces into experiential dreamworlds. Her work Mirror Gate II, installed at Place du Louvre, uses Egyptian stones like alabaster, granite, and breccia to create a portal that dialogues with the Louvre's architecture and glass pyramid. During Miami Art Week 2025, her installation The Observer Effect featured iridescent portals along the shoreline that change appearance throughout the day, accompanied by a soundscape by Laraaji. Zeta's earlier Mirror Gate installation appeared at Forever is Now III at the Pyramids of Giza in 2023, featuring a limestone portal with reflective spheres and a mirrored egg. At Faena Tulum, her permanent installation Portal del Éter Rojo features a red mirrored egg on a circular platform. In Mexico City, her work Doors of Perception was presented at Zona Maco through Galerie Philia in 2023, featuring a sequence of portals with chess-like forms and a checkerboard floor. Her installations incorporate materials like marble, stainless steel, auto paint, and fiberglass, creating environments where visitors physically engage with the work by walking through portals, pausing, and observing shifting perceptions. These sculptural works translate familiar geometries into unfamiliar configurations, using light, material history, and spatial organization to create threshold experiences between inner and outer worlds.
