Pierpaolo Seguso's 'Sogni Veneziani' at Caffè Florian During Venice Glass Week

During the Venice Glass Week, from September 12 to October 18, 2026, Caffè Florian in Venice hosts "Sogni Veneziani – Pierpaolo Seguso al Florian," an exhibition of new glass sculptures by artist and designer Pierpaolo Seguso. The works originate from a dream Seguso had of transparent glass blocks on pallets, bathed in furnace light. He chose to preserve this fleeting image, creating volumes of crystal containing pigments, gold leaf, and air bubbles, with an essential exterior geometry that contrasts with the rich interior narrative. The exhibition continues Seguso's exploration of Murano glass tradition, which spans twenty-three generations since 1397, while addressing intangible themes of memory and imagination. Caffè Florian, founded in 1720 and overlooking Piazza San Marco, is Italy's oldest café and a historic meeting place for artists and intellectuals; notably, in 1893, the idea for the Venice Biennale was conceived there. The historic setting enhances the dialogue between tradition and contemporary sensibility, as the changing light alters the perception of the glass.
