Picasso Print Stolen in Milwaukee Recovered After Eight Years

After eight years, a Picasso print titled 'Torero', which was taken in Milwaukee in 2018, has been recovered. During a cleanup of his apartment, property owner Tim Dertz discovered the artwork and, upon consulting an antique dealer, realized it was the stolen item. He subsequently returned it to the authorities, who reached out to Bill DeLind, the previous gallery owner. DeLind confirmed its authenticity through a sticker from his business. The print, estimated to be worth between $35,000 and $50,000, is currently held by Milwaukee police while insurance issues are addressed. The investigation is ongoing, and the theft's statute of limitations is typically six years. DeLind’s late partner, who passed away in February, was significantly impacted by the theft.
