Phoebe Collings-James to Present Ceramic Works at KH Künstler:innenhaus Bremen

Phoebe Collings-James (b. 1987, London, UK) will debut new ceramic works in her solo exhibition "Let this be the anchor" at KH Künstler:innenhaus Bremen in summer 2026. The works explore the tower as both architectural object and conceptual figure, engaging with themes of language, emotion, and violence. Surfaces feature traces, marks, and textures that function as signs of resistance, with performative processes embedding the body into their making. Inscribing, reworking, and layering establish a poetic ground for the works, which are conceived specifically for the venue. The exhibition draws on Patricia Noxolo's concept of the "fractal" to describe the tension between collapse and support, with sculptures that are fragmentary, mobile, and vulnerable rather than monumental.
