Peter Marinker, 84, with Alzheimer's, performs Beckett's Krapp's Last Tape

Actor Peter Marinker, 84, is performing Samuel Beckett's 'Krapp's Last Tape' at the Cockpit theatre in London, two years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Marinker first played Krapp in 1983 and is now reusing those original tapes. The production, directed by Dave Wybrow, includes in-ear prompts for Marinker. He will wear his wife's dressing gown instead of the traditional costume. Marinker co-founded the Godot Company with Beckett's publisher John Calder in the early 2000s. Edward Beckett, the playwright's nephew and estate executor, supports Marinker's work. The play, about memory and regret, has seen renewed interest with recent productions by Stephen Rea, Gary Oldman, and an upcoming Edinburgh fringe staging directed by Stockard Channing. Marinker also voices characters in video games like Dark Souls and has acted in Netflix's 'Death by Lightning' and 'Paddington in Peru'.
