Peter Kogler's First Murano Glass Exhibition at Galleria Barovier&Toso
Galleria Barovier&Toso, located in Murano, Venice, is presenting a solo exhibition by Austrian artist Peter Kogler, marking his inaugural engagement with Murano glass. The exhibition will be held at Palazzo Barovier&Toso from 10 September 2026 to 21 February 2027. This show is part of the gallery's ongoing program that invites internationally renowned artists to create new works in glass for the first time, collaborating closely with Murano's master glassmakers. The idea for Kogler's participation was suggested by Hans-Peter Wipplinger, Director of the Leopold Museum in Vienna, during a visit with the gallery's director, Dr. Mara Hofmann. The gallery was immediately struck by the connection between Kogler's visual language—characterized by endlessly repeating tubes forming infinite networks—and the filigrana technique, one of Murano's oldest glassmaking methods, which involves twisting and drawing fine threads of glass into intricate line patterns. The exhibition continues the gallery's tradition of fostering dialogue between contemporary art and traditional Venetian glassmaking.
