Percy Lake Cottage: A Quiet Rural Retreat by Michael Taylor Architecture + Design

Michael Taylor Architecture + Design has completed Percy Lake Cottage, a 2,800-square-foot rural retreat for a couple previously known to the firm through a downtown Toronto condominium project. The site, on the shoreline of Percy Lake near Algonquin Park, Ontario, features a steep, heavily treed slope above a calm lake with a private beach dotted with old tree stumps. The property's bedrock is Canadian Shield granite, with stretches of that stone appearing across the grounds and incorporated into the landscaping. Completed in 2024, the project was curated by Susanna Moreira, with photography by Tom Arban. The general contractor was Mill House Design, and landscape architecture was provided by Mark Hartley Landscape Architects. The lead architect is Michael Taylor.
