PENY HSIEH INTERIORS sculpts Taipei penthouse with light and curves

In Taipei, The Sculpted Penthouse by PENY HSIEH INTERIORS transforms a 230 m² duplex atop a residential tower into a continuous interior landscape shaped by light. The project addresses challenging conditions—low ceilings, fragmented layout, irregular light, and an underused terrace—by converting them into assets. Curved walls, sand-toned mineral finishes, and a continuous gray floor unify the living, dining, and kitchen areas without rigid divisions. A sculptural staircase with rounded wooden steps rises from a curved volume toward a circular glass oculus, introducing natural light and visually connecting both levels. The terrace is integrated via a light pergola and low furniture, making the Taipei skyline, including Taipei 101, part of daily life. Upstairs, private areas maintain the same material calm with soft textures, filtered light, and mineral surfaces. The design is featured in Glocal Design Magazine's 89th edition, 'Visionarias del espacio,' which profiles 15 women architects and interior designers expanding the conversation on architecture, design, and interiorism in Mexico.
