Pedro Torres Opens First Solo Exhibition in Brazil at Galeria Zielinsky

Brazilian-born, Barcelona-based artist Pedro Torres presents 'das–vindas—i', his first solo exhibition in Brazil, at Galeria Zielinsky in São Paulo. The show features new works in installation, video, sculpture, and text that explore time, displacement, and identity through materials like wood, sand, acrylic, and light. The title plays on the Portuguese phrase 'idas e vindas' (comings and goings) with the Catalan conjunction 'i', reflecting Torres's own transatlantic trajectory. The exhibition engages with Édouard Glissant's poetics of relation, questioning fixed notions of belonging. Key works include rotating wooden fragments that repeatedly meet and separate, dichroic acrylic discs that shift appearance with viewer position, a text installation in Portuguese and Spanish reading 'daqui, de lá, nem daqui, nem de lá', and the video 'Sandans' featuring sand as a time-measuring element. Torres has previously exhibited at European institutions and is preparing a solo show at Fundació Miró Mallorca.
