Pearce+ Unveils Guerrilla Shading Pavilion in Camden to Promote DIY Shade

architecture-design · 2026-10-13

The Guerrilla Shading Pavilion, created by the architecture firm Pearce+, has been unveiled in Camden, London, as part of the Camden Inspire festival. Situated at the Camden Collective charity site, this pavilion underscores the importance of shade in the UK while promoting DIY approaches. Owen Pearce, the founder of Pearce+, remarked, "Shade can be practical, playful and beautiful." The hexagonal design comprises five prefabricated sections crafted from repurposed timber, with unfinished lower parts allowing visitors to weave in donated fabrics. Collaborating with Shade The UK, Pearce+ highlights shade as a vital infrastructure. The pavilion is intended for disassembly and future touring, with aspirations to appear at the Glastonbury Festival. Project credits include Camden Inspire, Pearce+, and Momentum Engineering.
