Pauline Dujancourt's Synaesthetic Tears: SS27 Collection at NewGen
At NewGen in London, Pauline Dujancourt unveiled her Spring/Summer 2027 collection titled The Bitter Tears, drawing inspiration from her synaesthesia and Rainer Werner Fassbinder's 1971 play. A graduate of Central Saint Martins with an MA in Knitwear in 2022, she established her brand immediately after graduation and became part of the BFC's NewGen initiative in 2024, the same year she was nominated for the LVMH Prize. The collection explored seven reasons for crying, using materials such as hand-scalloped lace and floral organza. The runway showcased intricate silhouettes featuring oversized bustles and balloon sleeves. Dujancourt, who collaborates with artisans from Peru, received an Andam award in July 2023, and her business has seen a fourfold increase this year, enabling her to expand independently.
