Paul Clemence Photographs Heatherwick Studio's West Bund Orbit in Shanghai

In Shanghai's Xuhui District, along the Huangpu River, photographer Paul Clemence has captured the essence of Heatherwick Studio's West Bund Orbit, a new public exhibition space. This venue is intended to serve as a cultural hub, enhancing the riverside environment. Clemence's images delve into the relationship between architecture, movement, and the surrounding landscape, highlighting the building's intricate design and interconnected pathways. Positioned across from Heatherwick's Seed Cathedral from the 2010 Shanghai Expo, the structure features ribbon-like elements enveloping the exhibition area, complete with stairs, bridges, terraces, and a rooftop garden. Drawing inspiration from the classic Chinese moon bridge, the design promotes a sense of flow.
